Quick answer

Pomeranians are tiny, long-lived, and most prone to dental disease, tracheal collapse, and patellar luxation. The Daily Probiotic supports immune and coat health; Hip and Joint becomes useful in middle age for patellar and arthritis support.

Quick facts for Pomeranians.

Size: Small

Typical weight: 3-7 lbs

Typical lifespan: 12-16 years

Common health concerns: Dental disease, Tracheal collapse, Patellar luxation, Hypoglycemia in very small individuals, Alopecia X (coat loss)

Dosing note: A 5 lb Pomeranian takes 1 Daily Probiotic chew per day. For very small individuals under 4 lbs, break the chew in half. Hip and Joint dose for dogs under 25 lbs is 1 chew per day.

Common health concerns for Pomeranians

Poms are tiny and live a long time, often 12 to 16 years. Dental disease is universal because of their small jaws. Tracheal collapse is the major airway issue. Patellar luxation is the dominant orthopedic concern.

Gastrointestinally, the breed is generally steady but small body size means small GI upsets become real problems fast, including dehydration and hypoglycemia in very small individuals. Alopecia X, a hormonal coat loss issue, is overrepresented in the breed but is unrelated to gut or joint supplementation.

What supplements help

Daily Probiotic supports immune function, steady stool, and coat health. The breed is not famously sensitive, but a daily probiotic adds resilience through diet changes and stress. Coat shine improvements often show up 4 to 8 weeks into supplementation, which matters for a breed known for its coat.

Hip and Joint becomes worth adding for any Pom with patellar luxation or in middle age. The dose at this size is 1 chew per day, which is gentle and easy to give. Long-lived tiny breeds get more value from years of consistent joint support, not less.

When to start

Probiotic from any age. Hip and Joint around age 7 to 8 for healthy Poms, earlier for any dog with diagnosed patellar luxation. For very small Poms, your vet may prefer half a chew to start.
