Pointers are athletic and lean, and their structural health is well above the large-breed average. Hip dysplasia rates exist but sit below most retrievers and shepherds. Their main joint risk comes from a working life: high-mileage running, jumping, and field work that loads cartilage over years.
Gastrointestinally, the breed is mostly steady. Some lines pick up mild food sensitivities or seasonal skin issues. Hypothyroidism is the most common endocrine issue and is unrelated to gut or joint supplementation.
