Dosing note: Use your dog's actual weight for the individual product: under 25 lb, 2 chews per day; 25 lb and over, 3 chews per day. For toy breeds under 10 lb, start with 1 chew daily and increase to 2. Give daily by hand or with food. Always provide fresh water.
Common health concerns for German Shepherds
The Shepherd lives near the top of every hip dysplasia statistic. Their angulated rear and large frame mean joint wear starts early and progresses. Degenerative myelopathy, a slow spinal disease, is also overrepresented in the breed and changes how you think about senior care.
On the gut side, German Shepherds are famously sensitive. Chronic loose stool, IBD, and exocrine pancreatic insufficiency are diagnosed in this breed more often than almost any other large dog. The deep chest also means bloat is a constant background risk.
